  Synopsis
  Corsica, a small harbour city.

The unobtrusive Helena leeds a quiet and unremarkable life as a chambermaid and housemaid, with husband Angel and 15 year old daughter Lisa.
Is she happy or not? She doesn’t even ask.
Until the day when at work, she’s mesmerized by a young and attractive American couple playing chess on the terrace.
She finds guts to ask doctor Kröger, the old misanthropist she’s doing the housework, to teach her how to play chess.
Her whole life will change.

She does not even question herself about it.

Everything falls over when, making a room at the hotel, she surprises, fascinated, a very young and attractive American couple playing chess on the terrace.

By working up her courage, she manages to ask doctor Kröger, an old misanthrope to whom she does the household, to learn how to play chess.
